Celebration Choir is a community choir for adults who love to sing. Its goal is to promote inspiration and fine arts participation in the Monterey Bay Area. The major portion of repertoire is from a religious tradition—spirituals and gospel.
Membership is open to all without an audition, although a choral background and musical experience is encouraged. Because of its desire to promote quality choral music in the entire area, rehearsals are held in both Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties. Part of the uniqueness of this choir is the professional and demographic diversity of its participants. Celebration Choir offers outstanding opportunities for involvement with one major event weekend each year. It does not require a long-term commitment. Rehearsals begin five weeks prior its Spirituals Night concerts in August. Spirituals Night —celebrating its 13th year, has become a major event in the Monterey Bay Area summer event schedule. Its concerts on the first weekend in August—with performances in both counties—features an 80 voice choir along with regional and local artists. Opportunity is given at each concert to highlight Celebration Choir's sister organization, Music Camp International, which takes the gift of music to the underpriviledged children of Ukraine and Romania. www.musiccampinternational.org |
